Dec. 24, 2018: Registration is now open for the Santa Fe, NM race!

Ambassador

Do you want to help make a difference in the lives of animals and people? Do you believe what we believe? Furever Home Running’s mission is to make a difference in the lives of shelter animals and people in mutually beneficial ways:

In everything we do, we believe we are making a difference in the lives of pets and people. We believe every animal deserves a safe, loving home, is provided healthcare, and has adequate food.

We also believe every person can participate in running sports regardless of perceived ability. We believe everyone’s heath is vitally important and increasing physical fitness can be accomplished by increasing self-efficacy and access to running events.

If this aligns with your outlook and you are interested in contributing your time, we’d love to hear from you about becoming an Independent Brand Ambassador. This is a non-compensated role; however, there are rewards! In exchange for spreading the word about Furever Home Running’s races, all Ambassadors will receive:

  • 10% off all race registrations during their Ambassador duration
  • Free registrations or merchandise for referrals based on a point system
  • Early notification of specials and offers
  • Insights and input into Furever Home Running’s races

How does it work?

Ambassadors help promote Furever Home Running’s races throughout their networks – we’ll even provide you with some marketing material to help the cause. Each Ambassador will have a unique code to give to prospective participants, which will be used in their registration process. Each time someone registers for a race using an Ambassador’s code, that Ambassador will earn one point. Additionally, Ambassadors earn points by volunteering for sanctioned promotional events or donating to nonprofit animal rescue organizations.

These points accumulate throughout each calendar year and quarterly, Furever Home Running will provide each Ambassador with a points statement. Ambassador can redeem points for race registrations or Furever Home Running merchandise at any time during the year. Additionally, at the end of the year, awards and prizes will be given for different categories.

How do I become an Ambassador?

To become an Independent Brand Ambassador, go to the Furever Home Running Contact page at https://fureverhomerunning.com/contact/. In the message box, briefly tell us a little about yourself and why you are interested in becoming an Ambassador. Scott will work with you and arrange some time to chat more about being an Ambassador. After being selected, we’ll post something about you and your picture on the website’s Ambassador page.

Meet Our Ambassadors

Meet Furever Home Running’s 2019 Independent Brand Ambassadors:

Ben Hinton

Left: 2013, Right: 2018

“I reside just outside of Pittsburgh, Pa in an area called the South Hills. In January 2013 I sustained a traumatic brain injury. I started my running journey that year, completing my first half marathon. I have ran various distances from 5k’s to the 26.2 ever since. Running has changed my life. The running community has helped me to ‘Be Encouraged Everyday, to Encourage others is to Encourage ourselves.’

My wife and I have four adopted animals (2 dogs and 2 cats). Animals often times can offer more encouragement than even humans!  We adopted our first dog Atlantis a year to the day after my injury in 2014. I will never have a stronger bond with a dog. Furever Home Running helped me organize my first virtual race to help raise awareness for brain related injuries. It was very shortly after that I was honored to become a FHR Ambassador. Running and the running community is the best place to change your life and encourage others lives at the same time. To be an ambassador for a cause to that helps out our furry loved ones is an opportunity I couldn’t run past.”

Alvis Afanador, Sr.

Alvis Afanador, Sr. lives in Miami, Florida with his daughter, step-mother, and 6 rescued furkids. An avid runner, he wakes up around 4:00am every morning to start his daily run, with the occasional off days for rest. He averages at 3-15 miles per day for several  charitable causes. On January 23rd, 2018, he founded the running team Papa’s Runners as a way to bring Suicide Awareness while getting others to heal their mind, body and soul through running and nutrition. Since founding Papa’s Runners, Alvis has completed not only the 1000 mile challenge in less than a year but he has also completed several other 5ks for different charities. You can read more about Papa’s Runners here.

“I love running for charity since it soothes my soul. As such, I am honored to be an ambassador for Furever Home Running since they are a charitable cause that provides our wonderful furkids with the privilege of having a welcoming and loving home through the help of their funds from their events.”

Kristy Capps

I’m Kristy from Chickasha, Oklahoma! I started running 2 years ago when my depression got kinda bad. I’m had a couple of falls & bumps in the road since then including going back to work as a scrub tech in surgery! I’m excited to be running again because I want to be healthy for myself and my patients!

I chose Fureverhome because I have 2 rescue fur babies! Living on the family farm means I have a soft spot for all animals! Because of my crazy life/work schedule I don’t really have time to volunteer, but I do have time to run, work on my health, and help fur babies!

Nicole Boettger

I’m Nicole from Milwaukee, WI. I wanted to become an Ambassador because I love almost all animals (though I am not a fan of snakes, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to hurt them). My three dogs were all rescues. Two of my dogs have passed of very old age of 15 (Belle, my beagle) and 17 (Shadow, my beagle/Doxie mix), but one is still alive – Max. Max is a Doxie who survived a tornado that wiped out his shelter
I started running as a challenge to myself. After completing 5 half marathons, I got a little burned out so I stopped. I am back to running again and have signed up for my first full marathon, which takes place in April 2019, in Milwaukee. This is probably my biggest challenge because I am the heaviest I have ever been in my life, so I am working on my life changes and running makes me happy.
